Different decoys for different hunters
If you are new to the sport of hunting, the number of decoys on the market today might surprise you. From ducks to big game, there seems to be one for practically every animal that might ever be hunted.
Don't let the large selection overwhelm you. Focus only on the type of hunting you plan to do and use information below to help you as you make your selections.
Duck Decoys: Available in a variety of species, duck decoys come in several different poses to help you imitate nature. There are ones that appear to be sleeping, swimming, or even diving. For quality ones, expect to pay anywhere between $20 and $100.
Goose Decoys: Much like a duck decoy, there are many options when it comes to goose decoys. There are ones that appear to be feeding and ones equipped with floater devices, which make them easy to transition from water to field. Typically, these start around $50, but depending on the features can cost as much as $160.
Turkey Decoys: Although the turkey decoy selection is just as large as the selection of ducks and geese, they are generally significantly less. Anticipate paying between $15 and $70.
Big game: Big game decoys refer mostly to deer and antelope. Starting around $150, you will quickly notice that due to their size they cost significantly more than the other ones mentioned above.
Keep in mind
